    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://forums.lasik-eyes.co.uk//member_profile.asp?PF=10">AlanB</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> RCOph Standards for Surgery<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 03 February 2012 at 7:34pm<br /><br />The Royal College of Ophthalmologists publish a number of booklets, amongst which are the standards for laser surgery and a patient guide. &nbsp;<br><br>The Standards cover;<br> The appropriate experience and qualifications of surgeons performing laser refractive surgery<br> Requirements of the facilities at which it takes place<br> Information that should be provided to patients<br> The consent process<br> Relevant issues of clinical governance<br> Advertising and marketing of services<br> Specific issues related to the post operative management of patients<br><br>Apparently the standards were&nbsp; originally intended to form the basis of new controlling legislation, but there was opposition from one section of the industry and it never made it into the statute books. A few of the provisions have subsequently been covered by Care Standards Act, enforced by the Care Quality Commission.<br><br>Regardless of the strict legal status of the Standards, they still provide a guide to the <u>minimum</u> that patients should ask and expect of any clinic.<br><br>Links to Royal College of Ophthalmologists publications - <br>&nbsp;<br>Standards for Laser Refractive Surgery.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://forums.lasik-eyes.co.uk//member_profile.asp?PF=2">Guests</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> Wavefront - A con 2 make u pay more?<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 03 February 2012 at 9:38am<br /><br />I sat in Optical Express for 2 hours while they pushed me to have Wavefront for £2500.&nbsp; I stood my ground and had my eyes scanned at 1000 points on each eye rather than the billion Zillion points promised by Wavefront.<br>Eventually they agreed to do the £395 per eye and guess what....&nbsp; I have 6/4 vision (classification needed to be a Top Gun Pilot).<br>I then produced a £300 discount<br><br>So I paid a total of £490 for perfect&nbsp; vision.&nbsp; Wavefront is a Con.<br><br>&nbsp;]]>

Is it dangerous and indeed can it be certain to sort my problems out? Ultralase tell me it is....<br /><br />I had -3.75 and -3.5 pre op, that is now fixed but I have significant astigmatism of 0.75 and 1.0 in the respective eyes, having had no astigmatism before. <br /><br />Its giving me serious headaches as Im straining to see closeup etc, not to mention my dry eyes which have got a lot worse as my astigmatism worsened. At moment cant watch tv or really read my phone/book, which is actually a worse situation than i found myself in before!<br /><br />Thanks<br />Richard<br /><br />]]>

The other has blurry vision both for the nearby vision and the long distance vision. <br /><br />Indoors its even worse.<br /><br />Is it possible to have some improvement in this eye?
